This takeoff was conducted at approximately 495000lbs which was still 90k heavier than would have been optimum. In any case, still quite surprising and impressive..

    Looks like a really nice build! But if I owned this, the last thing I'd put in the panel would be glass. Gotta be steam gauges. Old school panel for an old school machine.

      @@AldoSchmedack will i really have to explain to you? he hit the starter and the timer, but the ignition was off, so nothing happened, then he switches master to on.

    • @drhugobr
      @drhugobr 6 місяців тому

      its not a big deal, It was just funny that he said the checklist was completed and the master was still off, sometimes it becomes so routine/automatic, that you just check stuff but dont really process it.

    thank you very much for the wonderful presentation of our stork, which hatched from its egg in kassel in 1936. it is available in a wide variety of variants and also in original ones. here in kassel there is a community that cares for the little bird. among other things, a certified pilot who restores the original stork from 1943 and continues to fly it. get in touch with me, I will organize the contact.

    Amazing job. Am I right to assume by the huge amount of rudder input needed that you were having tailwind or just regular sidewind?

    • @jetjox2000
      @jetjox2000 Рік тому

      There are usually 10-20 kt winds up there at anytime. Only on way in, so sometimes it’s not possible to get in there safely

    I once saw one of these at an airshow (US base in Cambridgeshire - circa 1994) and the pilot landed it on one of the small taxiways that link up the main taxiways and runways, possibly 250yards at most. It landed facing the crowd, utterly ridiculous, but just amazing.

    WHEN YOU FLY OVER WATER DO YOU ALWAYS WEAR A LIFE PRESERVER IN CASE THE ENGINES QUITS? .... THAT STORCH PROBABLY HAS A GLIDE ANGLE OF A HANG GLIDER OR BRICK .... I USED TO HAVE A WEEDHOPPER .... LOTS OF FUN BUT WHEN THE ENGINE QUIT YOU USUALLY CAME DOWN ON WHAT YOU WERE FLYING OVER .... IT HAD A SLOW SINK RATE BUT THE GLIDE OF A BADMITTEN BIRDIE ... MORAL .... DON'T FLY LOW OVER ANYWHERE YOU WOULDN'T WANT TO LAND .... DRAGGY AIRPLANES DONT HAVE MUCH L/D .... :-( .... .................................................................................................................................................

      The French replaced the Argus engine with the Jacobs radial when the French company that built the Argus engines post war went bankrupt. I guess the Jacobs was readily and cheaply available as surplus in numbers.

    I've never seen a more smooth, seamless transition from flight to ground. Storch, in a pilot's eyes, flies like it looks like it flies - as close to perfectly as the materials, technology and pilot allow. The Storch is phenomenally one of the best-designed aircraft of ALL time, e.g., the Piper Cub, DC-3, Boeing 707, B-52, Cessna 150-172, Beechcraft King-Air. . . legends of aviation mastery on all levels, sheer poetry, . . .
